My niece got married last Sunday, which was also my wife and I’s 28th wedding anniversary.
I rented a tuxedo for my wedding, but for my niece’s wedding, I decided to buy one. The cost between renting and buying a tuxedo wasn’t that much and I figured (with four children of my own) that I would wear it at least one more time in the future — worst case, on Halloween.
But I definitely won’t be wearing it to Jeff Bezos’ “$50 million star-studded luxury Venice wedding” this weekend; my wife and I weren’t invited.
To me, that is an obscene amount to spend on a wedding, but for him, $50 million is just 0.022% of his net worth ($226.7 billion), so the wedding is essentially free.
Jeff and his fiance Lauren Sanchez reportedly told their guests not to bring gifts, but if I had been invited to the wedding, I would have given them one anyway:
